The Crow Museum of Asian Art is a non-collecting museum. The Crow Museum is housed in a vibrant space inside the University of Texas at Dallas' campus in the Arts District neighborhood. The exhibits feature rotating works from private and public collections, including the University's Wendy and Emery Reves Collection, one of the largest collections of Asian art outside Asia. The Crow Museum serves as an educational and cultural resource for local communities with free admission, community programs and exhibitions throughout the year.

The Crow Museum of Asian Art, a non-collecting museum, is a charming, eye-catching jewel box of art in the center of Dallas. It's located in the Arts District neighborhood and occupies a small space within the University of Texas at Dallas' campus. Because it doesn't collect or store objects, the museum hosts special exhibitions that change every six months. Some past exhibitions have included contemporary artists from Asia, traditional Japanese calligraphy and paintings from the 18th century and more. The Crow Museum of Asian Art is housed in a vibrant space inside the University of Texas at Dallas' campus in the Arts District neighborhood. The brainchild of Trammell and Margaret Crow, it is the first museum dedicated to Asian art in North Texas. As you approach the museum, you will notice an expansive open-air pavilion that gives way to a bright, welcoming lobby. The center's design was inspired by traditional east-Asian architecture and boasts three galleries, one for permanent collections and two for rotating exhibitions. The center's location—in the heart of the sixteenth largest metropolitan area in America—enthusiasts a sense of accessibility. One can visit on their lunch break or during a weekend getaway with their family, friends or colleagues. After exploring more than 6,000 years of cultural treasures from China, Korea, Japan and India, you may want to take advantage of your surroundings as well! If you are an educator looking for artifacts to complement your curriculum, we have a number of educational artifacts relating to China and Japan available for class visits or loan. These classroom resources include traditional Chinese games, opera costumes, ink stamps and brushes and other art materials. There are also many books available including some in Chinese characters.

Don't forget your camera! Cell phone cameras are allowed in the galleries but may not be used for flash photography.

Photography Flash photography is not allowed in the galleries, including cell phone cameras. A limited number of professional photographers with a scheduled appointment may use cameras and tripods. Selfies are permitted in the galleries as long as they do not block other visitors' view or pose danger to artworks on display or other visitors. The Crow Museum of Asian Art does not have a parking lot, but free street parking is available on surrounding blocks.

When you arrive, look for a spot on the street. There are no meters, so once you find a parking space, feel free to park there. If you do encounter a meter, don't worry; they're all free. The Museum does not have its own parking lot and we respectfully request that visitors not park in the lot owned by the Friends of the Crow Museum of Asian Art (behind the Museum).

If you plan to visit this museum, here's information you should know about touring it!

  • Parking. Don't even bother with parking if you plan to visit the museum. The museum is free, there's a residential area (called “the Crow Flats”) that surrounds it, and there are public parking lots nearby in which you can park for free or at a small fee after 6 PM.
  • Check out the collections. In addition to Asian art, the Museum of Asian Art features an impressive collection of Native American art, as well as artifacts from Texas and the Southwest region.
  • Visit the Gift Shop. This isn't a huge gift shop like you'd find in Wal-Mart, but it has beautiful things to buy! There are items made by local artists and craftsmen here, so be sure to check it out if you find something that catches your eye!
